Tattoo Removal with Cutera Enlighten

You’ve been tatted up for years and now you feel it’s time to get rid of the body art you got back when you were younger and a bit of a rebel. Sure, you’re one of millions of Americans who have tattoo remorse and have resigned themselves to being stuck with stretched out, dull body art that’s not so meaningful anymore. So why don’t you just have it lasered off? Uh, you heard that it’s costly, takes dozens of sessions and even then you’re not guaranteed that it will be fully removed. Ouch! Well, you don’t have to totally rule out laser tattoo-removal. Cutera Enlighten is a new laser tattoo-removal system that can not only fully remove your tattoo, it can do it in much less time than traditional laser tattoo-removal procedures. Yes, really! So how does it work and what makes it so unique? Cutera Enlighten System is an advanced tattoo-removal process that offers two different types of laser beams combined with two different types of laser pulses to break down the pigment of the tattoo. The small particles are then absorbed through the skin and naturally expelled by the body. The Cutera Enlighten procedure is able to remove all colors of ink as well as solid tattoos and tattoos with shadows and fading. It takes a fraction of the time that other procedures take, which is about 4-6 sessions as opposed to 10-30 sessions through traditional laser tattoo-removal. It’s because Cutera Enlighten delivers faster high powered laser pulses, so the ink breaks up more efficiently to fully remove the ink from the skin. Since there aren’t as many sessions required, the costs are significantly lower, resulting in about $300-$500. Contact your technician to get an exact quote. Many patients worry about scarring and pain. Scarring shouldn’t happen if patients avoid the sun or wear a sunscreen with SPF 25 or higher. They should also apply ointment, avoid scraping the skin and avoid hot tubs. Women who are pregnant and people who have dark skin, poor circulation or immune system problems  may see a higher risk of scarring. The procedure itself is not painful, but can feel like the snapping of a rubber band. To avoid unnecessary discomfort a topical numbing cream can be applied to the area. So come in today to have your tattoo removed with Cutera Enlighten. Don’t worry about downtime or side effects. You can go right back to your regular routine after each session. Now you may experience some minor irritation or redness, but it’s only temporary. Your tattoo will be permanently gone! We’re open 10AM to 6PM Tuesday – Friday and 10AM – 4PM on Saturdays for your convenience. Drop by and talk with us. Advanced Skin Fitness 2928 Oak Lawn Avenue Dallas, Texas 75219 (214) 521-5277

7 Reasons to Get a Monthly Facial

Okay, so you can admit that you have problem skin and you’re probably no different from the average person who slathers on mud masks, uses scrubs every other day and even steams their face from time to time hoping to regain the youthful glow they once had. The truth is, no matter what you do your skin just doesn’t feel smooth anymore. In fact, you have fine lines, wrinkles and dead skin that’s compromising the texture. Sure, you can blame it on the sun, clogged pores and even cosmetics, but why not focus on putting those skin issues in the past and get your bright even skin tone back? You should consider getting a monthly facial to put you on track for beautiful radiant skin. You’ll be able to keep pores unclogged and skin smooth with minimized lines and wrinkles. If you’re not convinced, here are 7 reasons you should consider getting a monthly facial:   1.Exfoliation – This process involves routinely removing dead skin cells from the epidermis, the outer layer of the skin. Regularly ridding the skin of environmental grease and dirt, will ultimately improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and give the skin a smoother texture. 2. Increased circulation – Regular facials stimulate circulation to the layers of the skin. By encouraging a rush of blood, the skin will attain a healthy glow and skin cells will be plump from the vital nutrients and water. 3. Extractions – Monthly facials involve using special methods and tools to deep clean the skin for the  prevention of redness and effective elimination of blackheads. 4. Long term benefits – Combining monthly facials with daily maintenance will preserve smooth skin and reduce the recurrence of breakouts. 5. Stress relief – Having your skin massaged provides a soothing and relaxing effect 6. Professional tools, professional results – Professional spa equipment and effective skin products will allow more active ingredients to penetrate deeper into the skin. 7. Custom results – Before receiving a facial, your specific skin care concerns are addressed, along with a diagnosis of your skin condition and the probable cause. This way the technician knows how to properly treat the problem. At Advanced Skin Fitness, we recommend getting monthly a hydrafacial treatment for your monthly facials. This multi-step treatment delivers the beneficial properties of an elevated chemical peel and dermabrasion. Dead skin and excess oil are removed from the skin and pores. During the treatment the skin is preserved with Antiox serum, antioxidants, Peptides and Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate the skin, so that it holds moisture and elasticity. How Hydroquinone works for Melasma and Hyper-pigmentation.

It happens to a multitude of women, those brown patchy discolorations that appear on the skin. Women experience a plethora of skin changes during their reproductive years. Many of these changes are due to UVA/UVB exposure, which increases the production of melanin, external hormones and internal hormones. One of these common skin conditions is melasma. Melasma is a skin condition that appears as brown patches on the upper cheeks, forehead, upper lip and chin. It typically occurs in women between the ages of 20-50 years of age. It’s also characterized as hyperpigmentation and is usually treated by 4% hydroquinone, a skin lightening agent that is topically applied to the skin. Hydroquinone works by blocking tyrosinase, an enzyme in the skin that produces melanin, while it lightens the skin, fades dark patches and evens skin tone. By using hydroquinone combined with an in office treatment of kojic acid, it performs as one of the most effective treatments to lighten skin affected by melasma. Hydrafacial with britinol is recommended.   Most people who use hydroquinone have darker olive skin and are usually from Hispanic, Asian, and Middle Eastern descent. They most commonly develop melasma during pregnancy, take birth control pills or are regularly exposed to the sun. Hydroquinone is also used for acne spots, age spots and freckles. There are a few precautions that should be taken while using hydroquinone. You should avoid the sun, cover the skin and use a sun block with SPF 50 or more. Some women may experience side effects like temporary skin irritations, mild itching or redness. To avoid severe discomfort, you should perform a skin test. You can do this by applying a small amount of hydroquinone cream to an area of skin that is open or bruised. If the area becomes inflamed, extremely red or unbearably itchy, you should stop using the product immediately. If you have asthma or have skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis, it may not be safe for you to use it, so consult your doctor if you’re considering using hydroquinone. Stop by our offices if you are experience melasma, we can treat your skin to have you seeing results in a few weeks time. We’re open 10AM to 6PM Tuesday – Friday and 10AM – 4PM on Saturdays for your convenience. Drop by and talk with us. Advanced Skin Fitness 2928 Oak Lawn Avenue Dallas, Texas 75219 (214) 521-5277

Skincare for Chronic Teen Acne, Aging Sun-Damaged Skin and Skin Discoloration

Skincare for teens can be one of the most difficult challenges while entering into adulthood.  As their bodies hormonally go topsy turvy, their skin will commonly be attacked with pimples, blackheads, cysts, oily skin and whiteheads often leave a compilation of red marks, dark spots and craters after an epic breakout. Unfortunately, some teens can allow this condition to derail their social life, leaving them depressed and devoid of self confidence.   The first step for the average teen is usually an emergency trip to the drugstore to purchase the most popular topical antibiotics and astringents, which are moderately effective at controlling oily skin and shrinking a blemish or two. But what about the teen who suffers from chronic acne? Their massive breakouts need to be met with a more aggressive approach to prevent flareups. But those treatments can’t always be found in the skincare aisle.   Fortunately, there are more effective options available like Clearlight, which is a recommended treatment for tackling periodic breakouts. So how does it work? Clearlight uses non-invasive high intensity blue light to improve inflammatory acne, which includes red and pus bumps. The light activates bacteria fighting compounds called porphyrins, starting a chemical reaction that produces peroxide, which destroys the P. acnes bacteria that causes acne. For chronic acne Clearlight is used with Levulan, a topical solution that penetrates acne cells, destroys acne bacteria, unclogs pores with exfoliation and suppresses overactive oil glands. For aging skin that’s prone to acne breakouts, large pores, wrinkles and fine lines, Skinceuticals offers products like LHA Cleansing Gel, Blemish + Age Defense, Clarifying Clay Mask and Retinol 1.0. LHA Cleansing Gel uses a combination of LHA, glycolic acid and salicylic acid to decongest pores, clear blemishes and brighten skin. It’s often used for pore refinement, minimizing fine lines, smoothing wrinkles and discoloration. It’s also used to remove excess oil and makeup. Blemish + Age Defense has 2% dioic acid and alpha and beta hydroxy acid to minimize the production of acne, clogged pores, while fine lines, wrinkles and discoloration is improved. Clarifying clay mask has kaolin, bentonite, earth clays to purify the skin and unclog pores, It also contains botanicals and minerals to soothe the skin and hydroxy acid to exfoliate dead skin cells. Retinol 1.0 is a night cream that works to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, clear skin discolorations and minimize breakouts.    Monthly hydrafacial treatments are also great at combating chronic acne and damaged skin. It’s a safe, non-invasive, non surgical treatment that delivers the beneficial properties of an elevated chemical peel in a series of specific steps for smooth healthy skin. The procedure involves shedding dead skin cells and removing excess oil that has accumulated in the pores. During the treatment the skin is preserved with Antiox serum, antioxidants, Peptides and Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate the skin, so that it holds moisture and elasticity. For more highly effective skin care treatments, stop by or call us today. We’re open 10AM to 6PM Tuesday – Friday and 10AM – 4PM on Saturdays for your convenience. Drop by and talk with us. The Benefits of Doing a Cleanse: Detox, Lose Weight and Get Healthier Looking Skin

Your body is in constant battle, whether you’re struggling to eliminate cellulite, working to lose unwanted pounds, fighting to achieve healthy skin or trying to force toxins out of your body. With the various ways to address these issues a juice cleanse or master cleanse can begin to solve all of these problems within in a matter of days. A juice cleanse and a master cleanse both involve drinking a mix of nutritional ingredients for a few days to help remove toxins from the body. Following this regimen should also result in weight loss and clearer skin. To differentiate the two, a juice cleanse requires you to drink a combination of fresh vegetable and fruit juices and a master cleanse entails solely drinking a concoction of fresh lemon juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and water for several days. What’s remarkable about both of these cleanses is that they are basically fasts that can quickly began to detoxify the body by ridding it of contaminants that are ingested daily. The toxins that are in food, water and air become deposited in the fat cells and can come from  pesticides, chemicals from processed foods, antibiotics and hormones found in food, household cleaners, detergents, food additives, heavy metals, drugs, cigarette smoke and automotive exhaust. During this process the body begins to lose water, along with fat deposits associated with cellulite. With a master cleanse people can lose up to 20 pounds, but can quickly gain it back, if they don’t follow a healthy diet that includes a healthy balance of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. People tend to keep the weight off longer with a juice cleanse and have more energy With each of these cleanses you should notice that as the toxins are excreted from the body, skin conditions like premature aging, acne, dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis liver spots and rashes will start to alleviate. And skin should no longer be as dry or dull. You can decide which cleanse works best for you. Just keep in mind that the main objective is to detoxify the body. The weight loss and clearer skin is just a bonus! For more information on other ways to remove cellulite, excess weight and skin repair stop by Advanced Skin Fitness. Rehydrating Depleted Skin

If you notice that your skin is looking dull, tired, less elastic, oily and is prone to acne, your skin may be suffering from dehydration. Now, don’t get confused by the oily patches you see on your cheeks. This type of skin normally soaks up moisturizers and can look dry in spots. It’s why make-up looks uneven and your skin doesn’t feel as smooth and soft as it did before it was damaged by over-dryness. You’re not alone, dehydrated skin is a common problem and can be caused by cold weather, extreme heat, frequent hot baths, harsh soaps and detergents, sun exposure, dermatitis, psoriasis and lack of sufficient water consumption. Most people have experienced one or more of these conditions at one time or another, but when it results in over-dried skin, the good news is that something can be done about it.  Of course the best way to regain plump, bright and clear skin is to to hydrate it. Start by drinking a sufficient amount of water each day. Drinking water flushes toxins out of the body. The build up of toxins in the body can lead to an unlikely occurrence of acne breakouts. If you don’t have an adequate amount of water flowing through your system so that metabolic waste are expelled, toxins can release through the skin and result in flare ups of pimples, blackheads and clogged pores. When hydrating with water is not quite enough, there are other treatments that can assist with keeping the skin hydrated to restore smooth healthy skin. You can try hydrafacial, a safe, non-invasive, non surgical treatment that hydrates the skin. Hydrafacial is a treatment that delivers the beneficial properties of an elevated chemical peel in a series of specific steps for smooth healthy skin. The procedure also involves shedding the dead skin from the dermal surface. A technician will painlessly remove any excess oil that has accumulated in the pores and hydrates the skin with antioxidants, peptides and hyaluronic acid to hold in moisture and elasticity. Skinceuticals has a line of great hydrating products with hyaluronic acid that can be used with hydrafacial. Dry skin can affect anyone and can be tough to battle, so make sure you get 4-8 glasses of water a day, use topical solutions that hydrate the skin and consider getting treatments like hydrafacial that helps to hydrate the skin and eliminate dead skin cells. For more treatments and information on how to achieve healthy skin, come by Advanced Skin Fitness and we will be more than happy to introduce you to our many services that will help you get smooth radiant skin. The Fight Against Acne Continues as the FDA Approves OTC Differin Gel

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions that teenagers and young adults suffer with. Acne affects over 50 million Americans and can be characterized as a breakout of pimples, blackheads, cysts, oily skin and whiteheads. Acne is an inflammation that occurs in the sebaceous glands when hair follicles become clogged with sebum oil and dead skin cells. Acne can appear on the face, chest, shoulders, back, upper arms and neck, so many people have turned to prescription medication to aggressively attack the acne and prevent further outbreaks. Fortunately, the FDA has approved over-the-counter Differin Gel to treat acne patients age 12 and older. Differin Gel 0.1% was first approved in 1996 as a prescription medication to treat acne and now it’s the first retinoid to be approved for over-the-counter use in acne treatment. Patients should apply a thin layer of the gel over the affected areas of the skin daily. It should only be used externally and should not be applied on damaged skin. If you’re pregnant, breast-feeding or planning a pregnancy, you should consult a doctor to see if it’s safe to use.   For some cases of severe acne, Differin Gel and topical solutions like antibiotics and astringents may not be strong enough to reduce inflammations caused by acne. But there are some more aggressive non-invasive approaches that can effectively prevent acne flare ups from reoccurring. Thanks to the advent of modern techniques acne problems can be corrected with procedures that go deep into the skin’s surface to help minimize the overproduction of sebum oil. These treatments also unclog the pores and generate new healthy skin. There are some procedures that also correct blemishes and scarring caused  by acne.   At Advanced Skin Fitness, we offer Clearlight Laser Treatment for clearing up acne. Clearlight Laser is a non-invasive procedure that uses high intensity blue light to improve acne inflammations of bumps and pimples.   We also offer Microdermabrasion as a treatment for acne. Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive treatment that improves the texture of the skin by shedding the dead damaged outer layer of the skin and thoroughly clearing clogged pores to prevent acne breakouts.   Another procedure that we perform to treat acne inflammation is Microneedling with Radio Frequency Micro-needling with Radio Frequency is a technique that helps smooth out wrinkles, induce collagen and elastin reproduction and eliminate blemishes caused by acne scars. Patients should also consider our Hydrafacial treatment for acne. It’s a safe, non-invasive, non surgical treatment that delivers the beneficial properties of an elevated chemical peel in a series of specific steps for smooth healthy skin. The procedure also involves painlessly removing any exorbitance of oil that has accumulated in the pores and hydrating the skin with antioxidants. For more information on ways to treat acne and acne scars, stop by or call. We’re open 10AM to 6PM Tuesday – Friday and 10AM – 4PM on Saturdays for your convenience. Drop by and talk with us.
